Women In Construction Lunch

Feb 16, 2024

SIG was delighted to host its annual “Women in Construction Lunch” at The Ivy Restaurant on Dawson Street yesterday.

We were joined by talented women from many of our customers, suppliers, colleagues, and renowned Quantity Surveyor and TV personality from Room To Improve, Claire Irwin, who spoke at the event.

Claire delivered an empowering talk on how women can encourage others to join the construction industry through inclusivity, supporting one another and by being role models to the next generation. She spoke about the challenges she faced through her studies and on site being one of the only females.

Construction as we know is a male-dominated industry, with women making up just 9% of the construction workforce in Ireland according to the Construction Industry Federation (CIF).

It is also one of the largest industries in Ireland, contributing over 10% of the country’s Modified Domestic Demand (MDD), and increasing female participation in the industry can help to improve decision-making, enhance innovation and deliver higher financial returns.

SIG were very proud to host such an event and we look forward to doing it again next year. Thank you to Saint-Gobain UK & Ireland and Zentia – UK for sponsoring the event.
