Nova Brazilian natural slate has become a popular roofing material. It offers a balance of affordability and aesthetic appeal. But what exactly makes this type of slate stand out?
Nova Brazilian slate is a fine-grained metamorphic rock. It’s quarried in Brazil, hence the name. This slate is known for its stunning, dark grey colour that lends a sophisticated look to any roof. The quarries produce slates in two thickness selections – 6-7mm and 6-9mm. This variety allows for flexibility in design and application.
When it comes to cost, Nova Brazilian slate is the most cost-effective. It’s sourced at a more economical price point than its Welsh and Spanish counterparts. It’s slightly more expensive than fibre cement slate, now at €2/3 per m2 more, but in terms of durability, it will last at least 3 times longer than fibre cement.
Nova Graphite slates have a smooth surface texture. Due to their uniform thickness minimal grading is required. Brazilian slates should be fixed using stainless hooks and appropriate nails. Additional attention will be required when cutting Nova Graphite on site. To avoid excessive breakage a cutter should be used.
